Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
This policy explains what data Duply USB ("the app") handles, where it is stored, and how we use it.
Data stored on your computer
The following data stays on your computer and is never uploaded:
- App settings, such as language, theme, and copy and format options.
- History, including source folder paths, drive letters, volume labels, capacities and the result of each job.
The Microsoft Store version keeps this in the app package's local folder; the unpackaged version uses %LocalAppData%\DuplyUsb. Uninstalling the app or clearing history inside the app deletes it.
Anonymous usage statistics and error reports
To understand how features are used and to fix problems, the app sends anonymous usage statistics through Aptabase:
- Usage events: app start and exit, page switches, and starting or finishing a copy, compare or format. Events carry only numbers such as device count, selected options, success and failure counts, and duration.
- Setting changes: which setting changed and its new value.
- License status: whether the Full Version is active, and the outcome of upgrade and purchase flows.
- System information: Windows version, app version, UI language, and whether it is the Store version.
- Error reports: the error type, message and stack trace when an unexpected error occurs. Error messages can sometimes include the path of the file involved.
Each use generates a random session ID that is replaced after 60 minutes of inactivity; no long-lived identifier for you or your computer is created. Data is sent to Aptabase's servers in the United States and handled under the Aptabase Privacy Policy.
What we do not collect
- The contents or names of files you copy, compare or format.
- Drive labels, serial numbers or other information that identifies a device.
- Your name, email address or Microsoft account information.
Purchases and licensing
Full Version purchases and license checks are handled by the Microsoft Store. We never receive your payment details — only whether this device holds a Full Version license. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement for how Microsoft handles that data.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent any data, and we do not use it for advertising. Apart from Aptabase and the Microsoft Store as described above, nothing is shared with third parties.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
